The Ultimate Guide To Upgrading Your Lectric XPress!

Starting at just $999, the Lectric XPress delivers a fantastic riding experience, making it an excellent choice for many riders. However, a key consideration is that the base models often ship as a “blank canvas,” without essential accessories like fenders or a rear rack. This guide is designed to help you navigate the world of customization. We’ve compiled a curated list of top accessories from Lectric, our own Ebike Escape shop, and other quality brands to help you equip your XPress for any adventure.

Table of Contents

Lectric eBikes

As the creators of the XPress, Lectric offers accessories designed for seamless integration and a perfect fit. Choosing accessories directly from Lectric ensures a perfect color and style match, with a fit that’s designed specifically for the XPress. XPress Fenders Set – $59

These plastic fenders do their job well, keeping you clean in messy conditions. The front fender is easy to install with three mounting points. The rear fender is a different story, as it requires you to remove the rear tire, which means messing with the drivetrain and motor cable. It’s definitely doable, but if you’re not mechanically inclined, you might want to have your local bike shop help out.

XPress Rear Rack – $89

If you’re getting the fenders, you might as well go all the way and make the XPress fully commuter-ready with their rear rack. It’s a pretty standard rack with a 60lb capacity, pannier hangers on the side, and mounting points on top. You will need to reroute the stock taillight to the back of the rack, but Lectric includes the necessary extension cable to make it happen.

Trunk Bag – $119

I used a trunk bag all the time when I was commuting to pack my lunch and other gear. This one from Lectric velcros to their rear rack and has some really clever features. The main compartment has a divider, but the real magic is the side pockets, which unzip to reveal roll-out panniers. It’s a great way to get extra storage when you need it without having to ride with full-size panniers all the time.

Waterproof Pannier – $74

For bigger jobs or just keeping your gear dry, this roll-top waterproof pannier is a great pick. It’s basically one giant open cavity inside, so you can stuff it with whatever you need. The roll-top design keeps water out, and it clips onto the rack easily. A simple handle on top retracts the latches, so you can pop it off and take it with you in seconds.

Pet Trailer – $179

This pet trailer is a fun way to bring your dog along for the ride. It has mesh windows, a plastic cover to block road debris, and a “moon roof” you can roll up. Inside is a leash attachment to keep your pet secure. It has a 50 lb carrying capacity, but I’d recommend it for smaller dogs. For reference, my dog Nala is about 40 lbs, and while she fits, it is tight and the only way she can stand up fully is by sticking her head out the top.

Battery Travel Case – $39

This is a molded case from Lectric made with water-resistant material and a waterproof liner around the zipper. Inside, there’s a specific spot for the battery and a mesh pocket on top. I like to put the charger and any other metal items in the pocket to keep them away from the battery’s terminals. It’s a great option for storing a spare or just keeping everything organized in one place.

XPress Battery Thermal Sleeve – $39

Think of this as a jacket for your battery. When a battery gets cold, its performance suffers. This thermal sleeve adds a layer of insulation to keep the wind off and help the battery stay as warm as possible for as long as possible. It just velcros to the frame, is water resistant, and has cutouts for the mounting points, so it’s easy to take on and off.

Ebike Escape

As riders ourselves, the accessories in our shop (shop.ebikeescape.com) are products we’ve personally vetted and use on our own ebikes. We stand by their quality and design, and we’ve curated a selection of gear that we believe provides the best value and performance for fellow enthusiasts.

BiKGrip Phone Holder – $39.99

This is the phone holder I use in all of our reviews. What I really like about it is how it handles tricky handlebars, like the swept-back ones on the XPress that have weird bends. It comes with different-sized inserts that lets it adapt to different handlebar sizes, and you can pivot and spin it 360° to get the viewing angle just right. It has a sturdy aluminum build and a quick-release lever that locks your phone down so it’s not going anywhere.

ABC Bottle Cage – $27.99+

This is one of our bestselling accessories because its ratchet-style design can hold just about anything, from a giant water bottle down to a soda can. You can tighten it just enough to keep your bottle from falling out, or you can really crank it down so you can’t even pull the bottle out. Since not all ebikes have mounting points, we also sell this with a velcro strap adapter that lets you mount it right to your frame.

Tool Kit Essentials – $29.99

This tool kit from Bike Case has come in handy quite a bit. It comes in a nice zipper case with a mini ratchet, a handle, and an extension bit. You can combine them in a bunch of different ways, either as a ratchet or a screwdriver, to get to hard-to-reach bolts. It includes all the common hex bits you’ll need, plus a T-25, T30, and tire levers. It even comes with a mount so you can strap it to your frame for quick access.

Suspension Seat Post – $139.99

A suspension seat post adds a lot of comfort, and while Lectric has one, this is the one I prefer. It’s a parallelogram-style suspension, which I find absorbs bumps more naturally than the “pogo-stick” style. It just gives you a better lever point to take advantage of the suspension. We sell it with the correct shim to make it compatible with all Lectric models, and it’s definitely one of my favorite comfort upgrades.

Ebike Battery Bag – $39.99

This is our waterproof and fire-resistant battery bag. It’s a roll-top style, so you just slide the battery in, roll the top down, and clip it to form a handle. This is my pick for storing a battery because I know it will be kept dry and safe. It also has straps on it, so you can use it to carry an extra battery on your rear rack.

Lumos

Lumos Ultra E-Bike Helmet – $199.95 – $229.95

It’s important to use a helmet that’s rated for the higher speeds of ebikes, and the NTA 8776 certification is the one to look for. This Lumos helmet has it, plus integrated lights and remote-controlled turn signals for visibility. You can also pair and sync the helmet to their Firefly Mini set. This version includes MIPS technology for added safety against rotational impacts, but there’s also a more affordable option available without it if you’re looking to save a few dollars.

Lumos Winter Liner – $24.95

This is a simple but really effective accessory for colder rides. You just pop out the regular cushions in your Lumos helmet, which are held in by velcro, and pop in this liner. It has ear muffs that keep your ears warm, and you just route the helmet straps through the loops. It makes a big difference on a chilly day.

Lumos Firefly Mini Light Set – $29.71+

This set of four wireless lights can be put almost anywhere on your bike. They come with a bunch of silicone bands, frame adapters, zip-ties, and clips that allow you to mount these bikes pretty much anywhere. Also included are clips that are magnetic, which makes it very quick to pop the lights on and off when you need to charge them. What’s cool is that they sync up with the Lumos helmet and each other through an app. So when you hit the turn signal on your helmet remote, these lights will flash too. You can also sync their flashing patterns and turn them all off at once just by holding the button on one light.
