Throttle Only Acceleration

On flat terrain, the throttle provided gradual and controlled acceleration, smoothly reaching and maintaining the Class 2 top speed of 20 mph (GPS verified, display showed ~19.9 mph).
Pedal Assist Levels (PAS)

The bike offers four levels of assistance with immediate, zero-latency response from the torque sensor. Performance in each level on flat terrain was observed as follows:
- Eco: Provided nice, light support. Cruising at 11-12 mph was easy with very light pedaling effort. Applying moderate effort brought the speed up to around 16 mph.
- Tour: A noticeable jump in support. Cruising comfortably above 15 mph required minimal effort. Moderate pedaling easily achieved and maintained 20 mph.
- Boost: Another significant step up in power. Reaching 19 mph felt effortless, and maintaining 20 mph was easily done with moderate pedaling.
- Turbo: Strongest assistance, quickly reaching the 20 mph limit with very light pedaling. No extra effort was needed to maintain top speed in this mode.
PAS Acceleration (0-25 mph)

After adjusting settings to unlock Class 3 speeds (max 25 mph), the bike accelerated smoothly up to top speed in Turbo mode using pedal assist. The 8-speed Altus drivetrain proved adequate for reaching 25 mph. The pedal cadence was a little faster than I’d prefer when nearing the top speed, but maintaining speed just north of 20 mph was manageable for long stretches. The torque sensor remained a highlight and power delivery felt natural throughout the acceleration.
Hill Climb Performance
Throttle Only Hill Climb

This was the area where the motor worked hardest. While it successfully climbed our steep test hill, it did so at a slow but steady pace, maintaining approximately 6 mph without rider input.
PAS Hill Climb

Using pedal assist significantly improved climbing ability across the levels:
- Eco: Required substantial rider effort, primarily staying in the lowest gears (1st/2nd), maintaining around 6 mph but feeling the burn.
- Tour: Offered a noticeable boost, making the climb feel considerably easier than Eco while still requiring moderate rider input.
- Boost & Turbo: These levels felt similar on the climb, unlocking the motor’s full power. With moderate pedaling effort, the bike climbed much more effectively, essentially doubling the throttle-only speed to maintain around 12 mph.
