Comments on the 2024 industry
The last year generally has had its ups and downs for ebike brands. In fact, this time last year is when we started to see a decrease overall in sales. That was followed by the Fall of 2023 where we saw some huge price cuts. Now companies are facing the headwinds of a 25% tariff which hit in the summer of 2024.
We saw brands like Aventon start their Labor Day sale in early August which was a bit surprising. Lectric has doubled down on their pricing, not changing a thing. They’re kind of stubborn when it comes to increasing prices – a good thing for customers.
And Rad Power Bikes is currently offering a fire sale on their RadCity 5 Plus and RadRover 6 Plus High Step – just $999! The RadRunner 2 is also at a lower price than it’s typically been ($200 off). And their best models as of late, the Radster Road and Radster Trail have no discounts. No love either for the RadWagon 5 (my current favorite) and the RadExpand 5 Plus which is now $2,099.
