Earlier this year when Rad Power Bikes announced the RadRunner Plus, they also revealed the Rad Power Bikes Premium Headlight which comes standard on the RadRunner Plus. The premium headlight was made available even before customers started receiving the RadRunner Plus. Since I thought this might be a popular accessory I wanted to do a Rad Power Bikes Premium Headlight review. It’s worth noting that the premium headlight is not compatible with the front rack offered by Rad Power Bikes.
I ordered the premium headlight on June 11 and it arrived on June 16. On my 2018 RadWagon I had to disconnect the stock headlight, unscrew one bolt and simply do the reverse for the new headlight. On your Rad Power Bike you may also need to use a wrench in order to remove the bolt.
We personally found the stock headlight sufficient for the limited riding we do at night. However, the premium headlight certainly offers better visibility than the stock headlight. The premium headlight features a center light which serves as more of a spotlight and the “power button” shaped ring around the light gives you increased visibility, even from the side. The light was a bit larger than I anticipated which will surely give you an improved presence on the road. The daylight visibility is virtually nonexistent on either headlight. If your goal is to improve visibility during the daytime the premium headlight won’t do much to help but there are other options (more on that in the video above).

Besides its large size and night visibility, one of the main benefits is that the premium headlight is integrated and runs off of your Rad Power Bikes battery pack. If your goal is to see even more at night you may want to also consider a handlebar mounted light. I recently received the Planet Bike Blaze 600 SLX headlight which undoubtedly offered more visibility at night.
