Unboxing the Lectric One: First Impressions

The Lectric One arrives in a long, short box, which makes sense given its smaller wheels. From the start, it’s clear that Lectric prioritizes simplicity. The packaging is eco-friendly—a nice touch—and the instructions are straightforward. One reason we wanted to showcase the unboxing is that Lectric doesn’t believe it should be the customer’s responsibility to handle difficult assembly. They make the process far easier than most direct-to-consumer brands, with many components pre-installed, like the front fender. However, you do want to be sure you do a safety check before riding or take it to a trusted bike shop to ensure it’s ready to ride.

A key feature of the Lectric One is its belt drive system—something we were already familiar with before unboxing. The belt drive replaces the traditional chain, providing a low-maintenance, clean alternative that many riders prefer. It’s one of the features that makes this ebike stand out from others in its class. You can check out the Lectric One here.

Assembling the Lectric One: How Simple Is It?

The assembly process is incredibly straightforward, and you won’t need a ton of tools to get the Lectric One ready to ride. In fact, most of the key components come pre-installed. My wife, Allie, joined me for the assembly, and even though she hadn’t seen this ebike before, we were able to get it ready to go without any trouble. One small note you will need a small allen to tighten the display after it’s in your preferred position.

Here’s a step-by-step look at the assembly process:

  1. Seat Post Installation: After unboxing, we installed the seat post. With its 31.8mm diameter, you can easily upgrade to a suspension seat post (like the ones we sell at shop.ebikeescape.com) for better comfort—especially since this ebike doesn’t have a built-in suspension system.
  2. Front Wheel Setup: The Lectric One uses a through-axle system, which makes installing the front wheel super easy. We removed the axle, aligned the wheel, and secured it with minimal fuss.
  3. Handlebar Adjustment: The adjustable handlebars are great for riders of different heights, making the bike versatile for both me and Allie. After some quick tweaks, we had the handlebars just right.
  4. Pedals and Final Touches: The Lectric One pedals use a quick-release system, meaning you don’t need any tools for installation. Just rotate the pedal until it clicks, then pull the circular release and push the pedal in, and you’re good to go.

The entire process took about 30 minutes. On a scale of 0 to 10—where 0 is super easy and 10 means calling a bike mechanic—Allie rated it a 2. That’s the same rating my 70-year-old dad gave the assembly process when he helped with our XPeak unboxing.

Standout Features of the Lectric One

Once assembled, the Lectric One really starts to impress. Here are some of the standout features that make this ebike special:

  • Pinion Gearbox: One of the most exciting aspects of the Lectric One is its Pinion gearbox, which offers smooth, reliable shifting without the hassle of traditional derailleurs. We’ll be putting this gearbox to the test over the next 100 miles to see how it performs. Be sure to subscribe on Youtube.
  • Belt Drive: The belt drive system is a huge perk—no more greasy chains! This feature significantly reduces maintenance and ensures a cleaner, quieter ride.
  • Adjustable Handlebars: These handlebars can be customized for different riders, making the bike versatile and comfortable for all.
  • Tool-Free Assembly: The through-axle and quick-release pedals make assembly a breeze, and there’s no need to fumble around with extra tools.

What’s Next?

We plan to continue testing the Lectric One over the next several weeks to evaluate its performance, particularly the durability of the Pinion gearbox and belt drive system. We’ll be tracking how well it holds up over time, as well as noting any areas for improvement. For a more comprehensive overview, be sure to check out our full review of the Lectric One.
