Key Improvements
Mega Dual Battery Option
The introduction of the mega dual battery option allows riders to choose dual 17.5Ah batteries, totaling a massive 35Ah. This setup offers an unprecedented range of up to 200 miles, making it perfect for long-distance rides or extended workdays. With the included 5-amp charger and increased capacity, you’ll spend less time charging compared to other cargo ebikes on the market.
While the 35Ah battery offers an exceptionally large amount of powerโwhich some may find appealingโit comes at the highest price point of $1,999. The standard dual-battery setup, priced at $1,699, includes two 13Ah batteries for a total capacity of 26Ah. For those seeking the most budget-friendly option, a single 13Ah battery is available for $1,399. We recommend opting for at least the dual-battery configuration, as it often comes with additional accessories.
Updated Rear Rack
The rear rack on the XPedition 2.0 has been redesigned to be 5 inches longer and even more versatile, now with a best-in-class payload capacity of 300 lbs! This impressive weight limit makes it ideal for carrying larger loads, providing more utility than most cargo ebikes on the market. It also includes dual mounting points, allowing compatibility with Thule Yepp Maxi child seats, pannier hangers, and the new Orbiter 2.0 accessory, enhancing its adaptability for various cargo needs.
50mm Suspension Front Fork
The XPedition 2.0 now features a Courier 50mm suspension front fork with preload adjustment and lockout. This addition significantly enhances ride comfort, especially when carrying heavy cargo or navigating uneven terrains. The dual-spring fork impressed us by not bottoming out even with a 225-pound rider, while still providing comfort over smaller bumps for lighter riders.
Lectric’s Torque Sensor
Switching from a cadence sensor to a torque sensor is a game-changer. The torque sensor provides instant, proportional power based on pedaling effort, creating a more intuitive and responsive ride that will impress even those familiar with cadence sensors. Furthermore, with Lectric’s multiplier setting available in the advanced options, riders won’t find themselves wishing for more power from the torque sensor.
Drivetrain Upgrades
Upgrading to an 8-speed Shimano Altus drivetrain with a trigger shifter delivers smoother, more precise gear changes. This enhancement provides a wider gear range and a more enjoyable ride compared to the originalโs 7-speed Shimano Tourney drivetrain with a thumb shifter. This decision also required Lectric to move from a twist throttle to a left-hand thumb throttle.
Thru Axle and New Tire Size
The XPedition 2.0 is now equipped with puncture-resistant 20โ x 2.5โ street tires, designed to provide a smooth, reliable ride on both urban roads and light trails. These tires offer enhanced traction and durability, reducing the chance of flats during long hauls or commutes. The front wheel also features a quick-release Thru Axle attachment system for tool-free installation. This system ensures precise wheel alignment, consistent brake rotor positioning, and improved handling stability, making it easier to maintain the bike and offering riders greater peace of mind when carrying heavy cargo.
Beefier Kickstand
Lectric has redesigned the kickstand to be sturdier, with larger feet that resist sinking into soft ground. Its new placement adds stability, making it easier to load cargo with confidence. The kickstand on the Lectric XPedition 1.0 was one of our biggest complaints, so we’re happy to see this improvement.
Lower Motor Noise
Lectricโs M24 Stealth technology delivers a quieter ride than the original XPedition without sacrificing power. The 750W motor peaked at 1350W on our loaded hill climb test and provides 85Nm of torque, ensuring smooth, reliable performance for long rides and diverse terrains.
USB-C Port Now Available on the Color Display
With a new USB-C port on the display, riders can conveniently charge devices on the goโideal for both daily commutes and long adventures. Not surprisingly, Lectric also moved to their newer color LCD display that we’ve seen on more recent models.
Integrated Lighting
The XPedition 2.0 comes with Lectric’s Elite Headlight which provides 850 lux. For the first time, Lectric has added turn signals, giving riders an extra touch of safety and visibility. The rear taillight is also now brake actuated.
