Full Speed Customization
No more fixed speed limits here. You can set throttle and pedal assist speeds anywhere from 12 mph up to Class 3’s 28 mph max. Instead of the Fold 1’s five pedal assist levels, you get three ride modes (Eco, Tour, Boost), each with five levels of assist. That means there are 15 levels, letting you dial in the perfect amount of support for any riding situation.
Apple FindMy, Apple Health, and App Integration
iPhone users get Apple FindMy to track a misplaced bike and Apple Health to log rides as workouts. Android users miss these, but the Velotric app works for all. Record rides, adjust settings, update firmware, or find dealers. It’s a solid perk to keep your bike connected.
Upgraded Safety Lights
Safety’s leveled up. The headlight is now 130LUX (twice the Fold 1’s), and the rear rack’s brake-actuated taillight offers steady, flashing, or brake-flash modes. New turn signals boost visibility, with an optional beep to remind you to switch them off—no more accidental blinking for miles!

Throttle Limited and Cruise Control
Unlike the Fold 1, where throttle speed matched your pedal assist level, the Fold 1 Plus gives you options. Limit it to sync with PAS or unlock it to your custom speed. Or give your thumb a break with cruise control. Just hold the ride mode button for two seconds and set it to any speed between 5 -28 mph.
Performance Enhancements
No change to the nominal wattage of the motor (750W), but the peak wattage went up (now 1100W). The motor now delivers 75Nm of torque (up 5Nm), meaning it accelerates faster and is even better at climbing hills. The payload capacity increased by 10 lbs to 450 lbs without changing the overall weight. The original Fold 1 was one of the best performing folding models in its class and the Fold 1 Plus is even better.
What Hasn’t Changed?
The Fold 1 Plus keeps the same folded size and weight for portability. Unbranded hydraulic disc brakes still offer reliable stopping power, but the Shimano Tourney 7-speed drivetrain, while dependable, shifts less smoothly than higher-end systems, which feels like a bit of a mismatch with the new torque sensor. It still has the same folding procedure, comes with a two-year warranty, and access to Velotric’s 1000+ dealers or doorstep delivery. The IPX6 bike and IPX7 battery ratings ensure weather resistance, and the 20″x3″ Arisun knobby tires maintain the same size and tread pattern as before.
Frame, Fit, and Options
Made for small and large riders alike with a height range of 4’9″-6′ 5″. I am 6’1″ with a 32″ inseam and I had no problem getting a full leg extension. Same story for my wife Chesney, who is 5’4″. The telescoping handlebars let us both find a comfortable posture and swapping between riders is quick and easy. The step-through frame’s standover height is almost a half inch less than the original Fold 1’s, dropping to 15.5 inches, making it even easier for shorter riders or those with mobility needs to hop on.
